Greenberg Traurig’s Porpoise Evans Selected as a Fellow for The Florida Bar’s Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy
MIAMI (PRWEB) May 16, 2014 -- Porpoise Evans, a shareholder in the Litigation Practice at the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, has been selected to join the 2014-2015 class of The Florida Bar’s Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy, as a fellow.
The program, which includes 60 attorneys across the state of Florida, aims to help the fellows become leaders in the legal profession and in their communities, with the goal of creating a legacy of leaders for The Florida Bar and the state of Florida. Currently, only eight state bars in the United States have similar leadership programs. As part of the year-long program, Evans will participate in meetings throughout the state, beginning at the Bar’s annual convention in June.
At Greenberg Traurig, Evans focuses his practice on litigation and compliance, including counseling and representing management in employment disputes such as wage & hour, discrimination, and contract claims, as well as defending against alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act. His experience also includes the design and implementation of comprehensive anti-corruption compliance programs for multinational companies subject to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act, with an emphasis on leading such compliance initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Botswana, Mozambique, and South Africa.
Evans’ other community involvement includes: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami, Alumni Development Advisory Council; Arts & Business Council of Miami, Board of Trustees; Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., Board of Directors; Co-Chair, Brown University Alumni, Miami Schools Committee; Executive Council Member, The Florida Bar, Entertainment Arts and Sports Law Section; John W.
