The event kicks off this Sunday, May 18, with 40,000 spirited participants and nearly 100,000 spectators hailing from the Bay Area and around the world. The 12K race is the oldest consecutively run footrace in the world, and a mainstay of the City by the Bay since 1912. The race starts from the Embarcadero and ends across the city at the Great Highway, where the breakers crash onto the Pacific Coast’s ocean beach.
