VectorCAST is perfectly positioned to ensure that as the ‘internet of things’ evolves, application developers will have access to the best possible solution for software testing.
Providence, RI (PRWEB) May 20, 2014
Vector Software, the world’s leading provider of innovative software solutions for testing safety and mission critical embedded applications, announced today the release of a reduced footprint version of VectorCAST™ C/C++ which supports testing on target processors with limited memory. The optimized VectorCAST test harness can now fit on a variety of 8-bit microprocessors with less than 1k of RAM.
The VectorCAST optimizations shrink program and static memory size, as well as dynamic memory and stack usage. These improvements have been made without any reduction in the industry-leading automation and ease-of-use provided by VectorCAST.
Software is being integrated into new products at an amazing rate, and in many cases these new applications require a low-cost, low-power microcontrollers such as the PIC18. The applications for these smaller devices are not only the traditional embedded devices for medical and automotive applications, but also consumer goods such as appliances, light switches, and lamps. With the latest VectorCAST release, all of these developers have access to best-in-breed testing and code coverage solutions.
“Although many applications are migrating to larger processors with more resources, a significant number of new applications are being built on smaller architectures,” said John Paliotta, Chief Technology Officer, Vector Software. “VectorCAST is perfectly positioned to ensure that as the ‘internet of things’ evolves, application developers will have access to the best possible solution for software testing, and obtain the same level of software quality that their peers in other less constricted markets currently enjoy.”
