American Ballot Blast Debuts First Mobile Game to Support Voter Education
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) May 20, 2014 -- Today, Boston and New York City-based startup, American Ballot Blast, debuted its first educational game for iOS. Designed to help voters identify the political candidates that best align with their personal values and priorities, this release leverages the company’s educational game engine to introduce players to the platforms of three front-running candidates on the ballot for the historic California district 33 congressional primary on June 3: Independent, Marianne Williamson, and Democrats, Wendy Greuel and Senator Ted Lieu.
“The trend-setting nature of the California District 33 congressional primary inspired us to rapidly deploy an early version of American Ballot Blast,” said co-creator, Clark Nesselrodt. “The retirement of a long-seated incumbent like Henry Waxman, and the introduction of a well-known political newcomer like Marianne Williamson, created the perfect opportunity for us to begin serving our mission of engaging and informing disenfranchised voters through emerging media, while giving equal voice to atypical candidates.”
American Ballot Blast, which has no formal affiliation with any of the candidates it features, operates by translating publicly available information about candidates and their platforms into educational game content, including themed levels and characters. Players gain an understanding of what candidates stand for, and interact with the issues they would fight for in office, all through a few minutes of entertaining game-play on their mobile phones.
American Ballot Blast plans to release games to support a variety of local and national US races in advance of the November 2014 election. American Ballot Blast: CA-33 Edition is available, beginning today, as a free download from the App Store on iTunes. More information can be found at http://www.americanballotblast.com.
California’s 33rd congressional district includes cities, communities, and districts in western Los Angeles, on Santa Monica Bay, the Palos Verdes Peninsula and in the Santa Monica Mountains within Los Angles County.
