Horizon Energy Services is pleased to announce that their comprehensive energy efficiency retrofit project with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) won the annual “Best Public Facilities Energy Project” with the Association of Energy Engineers New England Chapter. The projects were judged on their creativity and comprehensiveness relating to gas and electric energy savings.
“Horizon is pleased to be recognized by the Association of Energy Engineers New England Chapter for this award,” said Mike Pace, Manager of Design and Implementation. “Horizon is a leader in providing comprehensive Energy Efficiency Services for utilities and their customers and we appreciate the recognition that supports our vision as a comprehensive solutions provider.”
About the Project
Horizon Energy Services was requested by the MBTA to review their existing Quincy Bus Storage and Maintenance facility for energy efficiency opportunities. Horizon’s site assessment identified ten energy efficiency measures including an Oil to Gas conversion, high efficiency burners and controls, steam trap repair, pipe insulation, compressed air survey, and lighting upgrades. The total cost for the project was $270,000 resulting in savings of $133,214. National Grid provided a $32,000 incentive to the MBTA which resulted in a simple payback of 1.8 years.
Horizon Energy Services (HES) has enjoyed rapid growth since its formation in 2008. In response to customer demand for a wider range of "in-house" energy services capabilities, and so we could offer our customers solutions for all their energy project requirements, Horizon acquired Teknikor Energy Solutions - a turnkey provider of energy efficient Power & Mechanical Energy services in August 2011. The synergies created by joining these two industry leaders allow us to offer full turnkey comprehensive energy efficiency solutions for our partners and customers.
