PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA (PRWEB) May 20, 2014

Marcia Otto, Vice President of Pricing & Transparency Applications at Health Advocate, Inc., has been invited to speak at the Dallas Chapter of the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB)’s monthly meeting, to be held Tuesday, May 20.

During the meeting, Otto will discuss key components of healthcare transparency, including:

  • How price transparency reduces healthcare costs and improves outcomes
  • The components of a useful price transparency tool
  • How to engage employees to use these tools to their benefit

Otto will also share insights based on Health Advocate’s experience using the company’s proprietary cutting-edge data analytics to develop price transparency tools, including the Health Cost Estimator. First launched in 2012, Health Cost Estimator is designed to help people identify the most cost-effective health solutions. The tool is continuously updated to provide consumers with the information necessary to support healthcare decision-making.

Health Cost Estimator provides comparative cost information within zip codes, in addition to data from The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score, which helps users reduce healthcare costs while ensuring access to high-quality care. As the trend toward consumer-driven healthcare continues, it is more important than ever that transparency evolves to provide people with access to cost and quality information to help them make the right decisions about their health. Pricing transparency tools like Health Cost Estimator help users make better decisions, maximize their benefits and save money on healthcare by providing a comparative snapshot of what a service or procedure will cost.

Health Advocate members can access HCE online, via a mobile app or on the phone with a Personal Health Advocate, who can help members navigate the tool as well as provide assistance for a wide range of other important and time-consuming tasks associated with personal, administrative and medical care needs. The mobile version of HCE is also available to the public at no cost in both the App Store for Apple devices and Google Play for Android devices.
