SAE International Honors Four Cummins, Inc. Engineers with the John Johnson Award for Outstanding Research in Diesel Engines

Four engineering professionals from Cummins, Inc., have been honored with the SAE International John Johnson Award for Outstanding Research in Diesel Engines. The group was presented with their awards during the SAE 2014 World Congress.

Established in 2008, this award recognizes the lead author of an original and outstanding technical paper presented at an SAE International meeting on the subject of diesel engines in the on- or off-road industries.

Four engineering professionals from Cummins, Inc., have been honored with the SAE International John Johnson Award for Outstanding Research in Diesel Engines. The group was presented with their awards during the SAE 2014 World Congress.

The winners include:

  •     Alvin Clayton Arnett, Technical Specialist - Combustion, Performance & Emissions, Advanced System Integration, Cummins, Inc.
  •     David J Langenderfer, System Integration Lead, Advanced Engineering, Cummins, Inc.    
  •     Michael J. Ruth, Director - Advanced Systems Chassis Certification, Research and Technology, Cummins, Inc.
Established in 2008, this award recognizes the lead author of an original and outstanding technical paper presented at an SAE International meeting on the subject of diesel engines in the on- or off-road industries. The paper must be published in SAE International's Journals and must address research advancements in diesel engines regarding efficiency and low emissions achieved by innovative experimental and modeling research of the engine, fuel, and/or aftertreatment systems.

This award is funded through a generous contribution from Dr. John H. Johnson who is an expert in the field of diesel engines. He is a presidential professor with the Department of Mechanical-Engineering Mechanics at Michigan Technological University (MTU), and is a fellow of SAE International and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
