Copper Run Distillery in Missouri’s Ozark Mountains is celebrating springtime with the recent release of a young wheat whiskey created in partnership with Mother’s Brewing Company, a Springfield based brewery.
Known as “Hopped” Wheat Whiskey, this is a limited release of only 700 bottles. Copper Run “Hopped” Wheat Whiskey is a double distillation of Mother’s Brewery Hopped Up Wheat beer that was processed in the distillery’s direct fire copper pot still, making broad cuts. It was then aged for two years in new “deep char” Missouri oak barrels before being bottled.
As a true reflection of the Ozark Spring, this new whiskey is complex, yet light and aromatic! Its medium body boasts flavors of hops, granola, and spice, and smells of orange blossom, grapefruit zest, and pine. Add some oak to it all and we have a unique whiskey with malty sweetness and the rich flavor of hops.
