ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard is currently under revision, with the new version expected to be published by the end of 2015. How will this affect the nearly 1 million organizations certified to ISO 9001 worldwide?
Much has been written about the impending fifth revision to ISO 9001. The purpose of ISO 9001 is to provide organizations with a foundation upon which to build sound business practices and processes. These requirements, properly applied can bring discipline and consistency to an organization’s operating processes. The upcoming fifth revision to ISO 9001 provides further opportunity for organizations take stock of their current practices and use standards as the basis for the development of a Business Management System, to unlock the untapped value within their operations.

It would be extremely premature to begin modifying or designing a management system based on the Committee Draft (CD ISO 9001:2015), which was circulated in June of 2013. A Draft International Standard (ISO DIS 9001:2015) should be available by August 2014 (or sooner). The Final Draft International Standard (ISO FDIS 9001:2015) should be released July to August of 2015 and, the fifth revision should be published in September 2015.
As the standard is finalized, SAI Global will present a series of webinars to cover all the details of the newly released ISO 9001:2015, and how the changes will impact your business. Be the first to know about updates as they become available.
