EdTek Services, Inc. Announces Major Interoperability Initiative
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) May 21, 2014 -- EdTek Services, Inc., a leading provider of full-service, turnkey Learning Management Systems (LMS) for small and medium-sized education providers, together with its technology partners, announced improvements to IMS Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) as part of the latest enhancements of their award winning Learning Management System offering.
Improvements to LTI in the latest release further increases the level of flexibility, interoperability and accessibility into the LMS and enables the seamless connection of web-based, externally hosted applications or content. LTI provides the capability for schools and organizations to connect to a myriad of 3rd party content, collaboration tools, operational systems and reporting tools that have traditionally been costly and time consuming to integrate.
A specific use case would be if schools or organizations have an interactive collaboration application or virtual lab. These tools can be securely connected to the LMS in a standard way without having to develop and maintain custom and costly integrations for each separate tool.
“Our LMS offering had already achieved LTI v1.1 which ranked it at the top of those systems conforming with the standards set by the IMS Global Learning Consortium,” said Paul Jacobelli, President of EdTek Services, Inc. “With this further enhancement to our LTI capability our educational partners can better and more easily connect into 3rd party content providers, collaboration tools, reporting systems, and even retention systems, providing them increased flexibility and insight into their programs.”
This latest release creates a blend of “Open Source” flexibility with commercial grade support and features to ensure the successful integration of external tools and content.
“EdTek strives to bring the perfect blend of capability and lower cost to our partners,” said Eric Crewes, EdTek’s Director of Business Development. “As an example, real-time collaboration tools can incur costly license fees. Now, with this enhanced LTI capability we can easily integrate lower cost tools that outperform currently installed systems. The LTI integration is succinctly aligned with our core mission of bringing the latest technology and support services to our Educational Partners at a cost they can afford or no cost at all.”
