High Fashion Home and Arbor Day Foundation Aiding Restoration of Lost Pines Forest in Bastrop Texas
Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 22, 2014 -- With a commitment to environmental sustainability, High Fashion Home and the Arbor Day Foundation have planted 70,031 trees to date in forests across the country. Over 44,000 trees have been planted toward the Lost Pines Forest Recovery Campaign in Central Texas.
Approximately 4 million trees were lost in the destructive Texas wildfire in 2011. The fire destroyed over 32,000 acres of land, 96% of Bastrop State Park, and over 1,600 homes, making it the single most destructive wildfire in Texas’ history.
The Lost Pines Forest Recovery Campaign is a multi-year public-private partnership between the Arbor Day Foundation, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Forest Service. It is aimed at restoring the pine trees lost in these devastating wildfires. The newly planted loblolly pine trees will serve a critical role in the history and environmental sustainability of the state and region.
“With our long standing partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, High Fashion Home is proud to have planted over 44,000 trees in the Texas region, which was devastated by the wildfires in 2011,” said William Levan, Co-Founder of High Fashion. “Thanks to our passionate customers and the Arbor Day Foundation, we are committed to making the world a better home by planting one tree for every piece of furniture purchased at High Fashion Home.”
"The Lost Pines Forest Recovery Campaign is about bringing life back to Central Texas," said Dan Lambe, Arbor Day Foundation vice president of programs. "These trees are part of the long and important history of the people and land of this state. For just $1 per tree, or about $500 per acre, supporters can make a big difference at any level."
