Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) May 21, 2014
Presenting at the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) State of Technology conference, SEAL Innovation, Inc. CEO, Dr. Graham Snyder, unveiled an innovative product in the fast-growing wearable technology sector.
Speaking to technology industry business and engineering leaders, Dr. Snyder, an emergency medicine physician and engineer, profiled his company’s new product to enhance aquatic safety, the SEAL SwimSafe™. Said Dr. Snyder, “our product uses lightweight bands worn by swimmers and a monitoring hub on land. If the hub detects from the band’s computer a swimmer in potential distress, it activates a high intensity visible, audible and vibrating alarm so that rescue can begin quickly.” To invent this product, “our team includes business builders, engineers, aquatics professionals and physicians and we collaborated with aquatic facilities like the YMCA, insurance companies and Olympic athletes” he added.
“Introducing wearable technology to increase safety in the aquatic environment is a game-changer,” Snyder said. The opportunity for prompt rescue provides an essential product benefit. “As an emergency physician, I have seen firsthand more times than I can count the heartbreak that occurs from loss of life through swimming accidents. A lot of people don’t realize that drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death for children under 5 years old, and causes 400,000 people globally to lose their lives each year. This frequently occurs because by the time someone notices a swimmer in distress, it’s too late. By including technology as part of a safety program that includes lifeguard and parental vigilance, facility safety standards, learn-to-swim programs and other measures, we can save lives,” he believes.
From a marketability perspective, “our patented design, comfort, affordability and portability sets it apart,” Snyder added.
Snyder also thanked NCTA for its role in promoting technology innovation and companies in North Carolina. “I could think of no better place to launch SEAL Innovation than North Carolina,” Snyder acknowledged. “The Triangle-area in particular creates an outstanding climate for technology companies like mine to grow and thrive. Participating with groups like NCTA is essential to our success,” he believes.
