Tourism Legend Jennifer Barbee Launching Destination Marketing OTA Think Tank Sessions
Corpus Christi, Texas (PRWEB) May 21, 2014 -- Tourism legend Jennifer Barbee is thrilled to announce the launch of a series of tourism think tank sessions, designed specifically for destination marketing organizations (DMOs) to tackle new challenges arising with the online travel agency (OTA) landscape – including Google’s game-changing moves within the industry.
“I get DMOs asking me about this issue every day, so I wanted to do something to address the widespread concern about the evolution of OTAs,” Jennifer Barbee says. “DMOs have to meet this new challenge with innovation, creativity, and partnership. Otherwise, the results could be pretty painful. We know how good Google is at what they do!” she adds.
The sessions, which will be held throughout the 2014 summer season, are designed to study, identify, and solve the issues facing DMOs when it comes to OTAs and continual changes to the travel information delivery cycle. The sessions will answer burning questions, delve into DMO strategy and ferret out potential opportunities.
Barbee recently penned a guest blog for Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) addressing the growing concerns about Google’s efforts and OTAs. The enthusiastic response to her post helped inspire her to launch the sessions, she says.
Jennifer Barbee is seeking 10 forward-thinking destinations for participation; one each per category, which include a Florida destination, a culinary-focused destination, a small destination, a destination that has undergone a major change in the last three years, and several others.
Throughout more than two decades in the industry, Jennifer Barbee has earned more than more than 100 travel marketing awards, held keynote speaker status for 80+ national and regional conferences, and garnered more than 16,000 social followers. She was also named the Stevie Awards Silver Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 in Advertising, Marketing, & PR.
“I can’t wait for us all to come together! Every time I hold a workshop or session, I and my attendees alike leave with a wealth of new insights!”
The deadline for attendee application is June 30, 2014, and the sessions will be held throughout the summer based on attendee scheduling requirements. For further details and application information, email sales(at)jenniferbarbee(dot)com.
