How Little Girls Are Paying It Forward In The World of Fashion
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) May 28, 2014 -- From the initial design to the final frills hanging in more than 250 retail stores across the U.S., Persnickety Clothing Co. and Millie’s Princess Foundation are partnering to give children who have pediatric cancer, the chance to be a guest fashion designer.
It all started with the spunky little Millie Flamm who was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of four. Millie’s life-long dream of being a fashion designer was fulfilled by Persnickety only weeks before her passing on June 18, 2013. “This experience with Millie changed us. We have the power to bring moments of sheer joy into the lives of children and families facing childhood cancer. It is part of our mission as a company- to increase happiness in the world; it’s who we are as individuals and our customers can’t get enough of these beautiful clothes designed and inspired by these courageous children,” said Corinne Rickenbach, Owner and Executive Designer of Persnickety Clothing Co.
Now it’s Cami Carver’s turn. She’s Millie’s best friend and a delightful eight-year-old, recovering from a recent bone marrow transplant as well. She and Corinne met recently to sketch out designs and choose fabrics for two new dresses that will be available in select retail locations in September. All proceeds from the sale of these dresses will go to Millie’s Princess Foundation to assist those families affected by childhood cancer.
[September is national Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.]
On June 10, 2014 Cami will have the opportunity to get to know one of these families firsthand, and carry on the mission of Millie’s Princess Foundation, when she meets another cancer child— five-year-old Phoebe from Texas. Cami will present Phoebe with the first edition of these special dresses from her own designs.
Cami can’t wait to meet Phoebe. She said, “People have done really nice things for me while I’ve been going through cancer. Now it’s my turn!”
Out of the mouths of babes. Yes Cami, it is our turn!
