We provide step-by-step instruction on exactly what you need to do to put an article together. And then, of course, we show you what to do after that, how—and where—to sell this article you’ve just written.

The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop hosted by Great Escape Publishing is scheduled for September 11-13, 2014, in sunny San Diego, CA. This year’s event offers comprehensive workshop sessions and presentations plus valuable industry insights, all geared to assist attendees in becoming published travel writers.
The fast-track, three-day program provides instruction and tips for success in a field that combines an individual’s interests with a passion for travel. The registration fee covers all class sessions—new travel blogging session included—and every presentation, plus take-away recordings, handouts and special bonus reports. Also included are three receptions where registrants can mingle with instructors, editors and other guest speakers. Here writers can make publishing connections, collect contact information and pursue possible article assignments.
Jennifer Stevens is the author of The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Program (Great Escape Publishing’s home-study program) and architect of this workshop. Jennifer is the Executive Editor at International Living, and she spent a decade gallivanting around Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe, writing about the best locales for overseas travel, retirement, and investment.
When describing the workshop goals, Jennifer explains, "The idea is that for these three days, you immediately apply what you learn. We provide step-by-step instruction on exactly what you need to do to put an article together. And then, of course, we show you what to do after that, how—and where—to sell this article you’ve just written."
All workshop attendees will gain access to the Publication Expo: A Job Fair for Freelance Travel Writers. At this job fair attendees will discover more than a dozen online and print publications in need of articles. Sample issues, writer’s guidelines, contact information, and special “editor’s insights” handouts will be provided for each magazine. In addition, experts will be on hand to talk about tips for pitching travel stories to magazines, newspapers and online publications.
The workshop includes one photography sessoin which will focus will on transforming vacation/location shots into photos that can be sold with stories to create a “photo/article package”. Editors pay more when photos are included and this is a fast way to increase earnings. The Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop will offer a photography add-on workshop for a limited number of attendees. Participants will learn how to take saleable photos and actually practice during a photo-taking expedition around San Diego.
This event is Great Escape Publishing’s only Ultimate Travel Writer’s Workshop of 2014. An Early Bird Discount of $300 is available to those who sign up by June 30, 2014, or when all seats are filled, whichever occurs first.
