Rancho BioSciences Announces That It is Now an Affiliate Member of the tranSMART Foundation and Will Commit Resources for Testing and Providing Content for tranSMART
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 27, 2014 -- Rancho BioSciences, the scientific data consulting company, announced today that it is now an affiliate member of the tranSMART Foundation, a non-profit organization providing a global, open-source knowledge management platform for scientists to share pre-competitive research data. Rancho BioSciences has donated 11 manually curated data sets to be used for testing and hackathons. Rancho BioSciences will also be working with the Foundation to develop a new track named “Testathon” whereby it will donate resources for every release cycle to test the tranSMART platform and report bugs to the development team to fix before the final production release.
“Rancho is committed to the success of tranSMART,” said Julie Bryant, the company’s CEO. “We host and manage tranSMART with third parties such as AWS, BT Global and Liaison Technologies. We develop integrations with third party tools such as R and Omicsoft, build ETL loaders and develop new features around tranSMART. We then roll it out to therapeutic areas in pharma to answer questions and develop hypotheses.”
“We are supporting many foundations, academic and government groups with tranSMART,” said Laura Brovold, Head of academic and government at Rancho BioSciences. “We have manually curated 30 million multiple sclerosis data points for the Orion project that are now in tranSMART ready for analysis by the team members.”
“Rancho BioSciences has been an integral partner in the development of the tranSMART platform and we are pleased to have them commit their resources as an Affiliate Member,” said the tranSMART Foundation CEO, Keith Elliston. “As an open source platform with developers from numerous organizations all over the globe, the “Testathon” track will be an essential component to the success of future releases of the platform. We are thankful for the expertise Rancho is offering in this area.”
