Brain Tumor Experts Meet in Chicago to Share Latest Research, Treatment & Care Strategies
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 22, 2014 -- The American Brain Tumor Association will host its annual patient and family conference, the largest research, education and networking event solely dedicated to advancing the understanding of the latest brain tumor research, treatment and caregiving strategies, on July 25 & 26, at the Renaissance Chicago O’Hare Suites, in Chicago.
Brain tumor experts from across the country are expected to convene during this premier two-day conference that offers patients and families a unique opportunity to participate in tumor-specific round tables, network with each other, and further their understanding of the latest treatment and caregiving approaches.
Expert panels and guest speakers will share their knowledge and the most current information and research during sessions covering a range of topics including:
• how science and technology are impacting the development of new treatments
• integrative medicine, nutrition and the ketogenic diet
• legal and financial matters
• symptom management tips and strategies
The theme of this year’s meeting, “Providing and Pursing Answers: Advances in Research, Treatment and Care,” emphasizes how research informs treatment and caregiving advances. For example, presentations will address how research is furthering strategies to minimize treatment side effects.
“Our hope is that this conference will raise awareness of the latest research, treatment and caregiving approaches and put the spotlight on the need for safer and more effective treatments,” said Elizabeth Wilson, MNA, president and CEO, American Brain Tumor Association. “With 700,000 people living with a brain tumor, our goal is to be the leading source that provides answers while aggressively funding research in the pursuit of answers that have eluded the brain tumor community for too long.”
Each year, hundreds of patients and their families attend the conference to gain a better understanding of new therapy options and symptom management strategies while giving them the opportunity to meet fellow brain tumor patients and caregivers. This year, attendees may also participate in a roundtable discussion based on their tumor type and meet others who share their diagnosis.
Hot topics to be presented include the latest surgical advances that are enabling neurosurgeons to provide patients with better recoveries and prognosis, promising drug therapies and new devices to treat brain tumors.
