Envestnet, Inc. (NYSE: ENV), a leading provider of integrated wealth management technology and services to investment advisors and wealth managers and Investment Advisor Magazine awarded boutique investment firm, Tom Johnson Investment Management (TJIM) SMA Manager of the Year and the Fixed Income Manager Award at the 10th annual Separately Managed Account (SMA) Manager of the Year Awards on May 15th.

The SMA Awards honor asset managers who provide proven outstanding returns to their clients. In order to be considered for the awards, candidates must meet strict guidelines adherent to Envestnet’s due diligence process.

The winners and finalists in each SMA Manager of the Year Award category were determined through Envestnet | PMC® (PMC), Envestnet’s portfolio management consulting group. PMC’s systematic, proprietary and multi-factor evaluation methodology considers qualitative and quantitative criteria such as performance, firm profile, tax efficiency, customer service and investment process and style.

“Tom Johnson Investment Management’s product not only achieved positive returns during what was a dismal year for fixed income, but also generated high returns over the past three- and five-year periods—which helped set the firm apart from some of the larger managers under consideration for the SMA Manager of the Year,” said Tim Clift, Chief Investment Strategist of Envestnet | PMC®, who served on the award selection committee. “We were also impressed with the organization’s exceptional client service, fostered by a client-focused culture and practiced by a team that has worked together closely for many years. The combination of these factors makes Tom Johnson a role model within the money management sector, and the deserving recipient of this distinction.”

Tom Johnson Investment Management competed against more than 1,500 other firms in the Overall Managers category and 303 in the Fixed Income SMA Managers category.

TJIM Vice President and Portfolio Manager, Douglas Haws, CFA, said he attributes TJIMs prestigious wins to the firm’s formidable combination of a cohesive experienced investment team and a disciplined investment process.

“Our investment process is consistent, conservative and disciplined,” Haws said. “Adhering to these tenets allows our portfolio team to remain accessible and accountable to our clients.”

When presented with the SMA Manager of the Year and Fixed-Income Manager awards, Haws admitted that he was both honored and humbled.

“I am extremely honored to accept these awards on behalf of TJIM,” Haws said. “We are a $700 million boutique investment management firm in Oklahoma. To be able to secure a win amongst an elite group of household names in the investment management industry is extremely humbling, and speaks volumes about the accomplishments of TJIM’s experienced portfolio team.”

President and Chief Investment Officer of TJIM, Richard Parry, CFA, highlights the organization’s passion for sound investments and clients’ long-term successes.

“We live and die by how we perform for our clients,” Parry said. “We have an excellent, experienced team and a defined process that has proven successful over time.”
