PROSHRED and The American Institute for Cancer Research Announce 1st Annual “Shred Cancer” Community Shredding Event
(PRWEB) May 23, 2014 -- PROSHRED has teamed up with the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) to create the 1st Annual “Shred Cancer” Nationwide Shredding Event! Participating PROSHRED locations across the country will be running shredding events on June 1st 2014, as the day falls on National Cancer Survivors Day.
PROSHRED’s on-site shredding trucks will be parked in designated areas to collect the public’s unwanted confidential documents. During the event, PROSHRED employees will be collecting donations from customers coming to shred their paper materials. All donations collected will go directly to the AICR to support cancer research. Based on past PROSHRED events, an estimated 6,000 people nationwide will likely attend the shredding events.
The event was launched in honor of PROSHRED franchisee David Wright of Charlotte, NC who is continuing his ongoing battle with cancer. Similar to countless families, communities and organizations across America, PROSHRED has been deeply affected by this disease and will do all it can to help prevent and cure it.
Jeffrey Hasham, PROSHRED’s CEO stated that “we at PROSHRED feel very privileged to be working with the AICR. It is our hope that we can help increase awareness of their research and educational activities. Many of our franchisees and employees have been impacted by cancer, and AICR’s research and education on lifestyle’s role in both the prevention and survival of cancer offers practical, evidence-based help.”
Kelly Browning, CEO of the AICR further noted, “We are delighted to be working with PROSHRED to deliver life-saving messages about lower cancer risk to their clients – and to the public at large. The research has never been clearer: we can prevent many cancers. With PROSHRED’s help, we’ll show people how.”
PROSHRED will use its web portal and location network to help the AICR in its mission to prevent cancer by educating citizens on diet, exercise and the correlation between a healthy lifestyle and the prevention of cancer.
