Santa Fe University of Art and Design Hosts Third Annual ArtFest
Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) May 22, 2014 -- Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) will host nearly 500 international students and faculty this summer as part of its third annual ArtFest and Vacation English Immersion courses that will run July 10–30 on the SFUAD campus. The festival brings together students and faculty members from around the world for three weeks of academic and artistic workshops, as well as cultural activities that showcase all New Mexico has to offer.
Participants will be traveling to Santa Fe from Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Honduras, India, Mexico, Peru and Spain, with visiting faculty coming from NewSchool of Architecture and Design in San Diego, California; Media Design School in New Zealand; Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule (BTK) in Germany; and Pearl Academy in India.
New workshops for three-week ArtFest participants this year include Intro to Game Programming, Fashion Photography, Social Furniture/Body Symbiosis and Short Fiction & Poetry. Returning from previous years are workshops in alternative photographic processes, concept art for games, beginning digital photography, music production tools and techniques, pottery, micro cinema, architecture, textiles and creative writing.
“Since Santa Fe University of Art and Design last hosted this celebration of art in 2013, our environment and attitude have continuously evolved to create several new and exciting workshops,” said Radi Simeonova, on-campus director of ArtFest14. “It is our hope to attract more international participants this year as well as art supporters and enthusiasts from the local community. With the festival located in the heart of artistic Santa Fe, New Mexico, it gives participants the opportunity to explore the fantastic nature surrounding us, the city’s International Folk Art Market, and the authentic spirit of old Santa Fe.”
In addition to the three-week workshops for university students, community and educator workshops will be offered July 12 and July 14. Instructor Wendy Young will conduct a Digital Photography workshop and Karina Hean will teach a Drawing course. High school students can also attend ArtFest by participating in one of three workshops—digital arts, film or photography—from July 10 to 15.
Several cultural and social activities will again be incorporated into ArtFest, encompassing both on-campus events and off-campus excursions in Santa Fe and the surrounding communities.
ArtFest14 registration is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and to register for a workshop, visit http://artfestsf.com/register-now/.
