Ostia Solutions announces delivery of real time election results for Irish Local Election 2014
Bray, Co Wicklow (PRWEB UK) 25 May 2014 -- Irish election counts and interest in them is a ‘blood sport’ of sorts with many people having a massive interest in slicing and dicing the election figures both as they are announced and after the election has been completed.
As part of the government commitment to Open Data, and building on the knowledge of Fingal County Council and Dublinked the Local Government sector has agreed a standards approach to the collation, distribution and publishing of local election data. While all authorities publish the counts at the count centre, this data will be available by constituency on the internet through the Local Government Portal http://www.localgov.ie. Ostia Solutions working with the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA), delivered the solution.
From a standing start, a short time before the election, Ostia have worked closely with a distributed team from the local councils to deliver a solution that will make election counts available on the web from the minute they are announced. Each constituency is represented on a map of Ireland where a simple selection of the county and constituency of interest will give an overview of the latest count data available. This data may also be downloaded as an XML, CSV (Comma Separated Value) or JSON feed with a single click so that election boffins can build their own applications around the data should they wish to do so.
This data will be available at http://data.localgov.ie from the time the data is published in the local election centres and in the weeks following the election.
