Select Italy Introduces its Exclusive Tasca d’Almerita Wine Roads Experience
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 27, 2014 -- The web-based travel company Select Italy (http://selectitaly.com), has recently included a brand new wine road package to its Wine Roads of Italy portfolio, thanks to the collaboration with one of the most prestigious Italian wine families, Tasca d’Almerita.
Sicily is home to more than 2500 years of winemaking history. The Tasca d’Almerita family has been making superior quality Sicilian wine for over eight generations and, among their many awards, were recently named Best Cantina in Italy. The Tasca d’Almerita family has five estates across Sicily and the Aeolian Islands: from the volcanic soils on the slopes of Mt. Etna to the expansive countryside of Regaleali to the dusty earth of Palermo. Each one of them remains committed to the family’s dedication to an authentic Made in Sicily and sustainable practices, illustrated by the fact that half of the grapes grown on Tasca estates are dedicated to research and that the winery was one of the first certified as sustainable.
The Tasca d’Almerita Experience is a seven-day highly customizable itinerary following Tasca properties from East to West Sicily. The experience begins at the Hotel Villa Carlotta in Taormina and continues with an afternoon visit and tasting at the Tascante vineyard. This is followed by dinner at the highly praised Osteria Nero d'Avola, which offers over 240 Sicilian wines to pair with the acclaimed dishes of the fresh, local cuisine. Day three moves to Regaleali, the heart and soul of the Tasca d'Almerita family's wine production. The stay includes all meals catered by the family’s personal chef, a tour of the expansive vineyards, a tasting of excellent wines and a cooking class conducted at the world renewed culinary school of published author Anna Tasca Lanza. The final destination is Palermo, where the final property of the itinerary, Sallier de la Tour, is located, known for its production of Monreale DOC with Syrah grapes. The stay includes an introductory tour of the capital city of the island and VIP dinner reservations at the Gagini Social Restaurant. The Tasca d’Almerita wine road is not just visiting a winery; it is the embodiment and essence of the Sicilian experience, seamlessly weaving wine tasting with authentic glimpses into the culture and history with warm and high quality hospitality of Sicilians.
Besides the vacation package, Select Italy and Tasca d’Almerita offer a set of single services such as the winery visit and tasting at the Tascante Estate, cooking lessons at Regaleali under the expert guidance of Fabrizia Tasca Lanza, an art and food historian who is the daughter of acclaimed cookbook writer, Anna Tasca Lanza. The offer can also includes two unique locations, both properties of the family, Capofaro Malvasia & Resort in the Aeolian islands and the Regaleali Estate.
“We are beyond thrilled at the creation of this partnership with Tasca d’Almerita,” says Martina Mirandola Mullen, Food and Wine Specialist. “In addition to making stellar, award-winning wines, the family, the itinerary, and their properties are the quintessence of Sicilian hospitality, offering the warmth, pride and rich culture of Sicily in every way.”
The Tasca d’Almerita Wine Roads Experience includes lodging, transportation, private tours of surrounding areas, a cooking class and visits to the various properties.
