CFO of Unbound Honored for His Work with the K.C.-based Nonprofit
Kansas City, Kansas (PRWEB) May 23, 2014 -- Unbound is proud to be among 12 businesses and nonprofits in the Greater Kansas City area whose chief financial officer has been honored in the Kansas City Business Journal's CFO of the Year awards program.
Martin Kraus has been honored in the category of Large Nonprofit CFO of the Year.
As the CFO of Unbound, Kraus leads the $121 million-a-year nonprofit dedicated to helping families in 21 developing countries as they challenge and overcome poverty.
Kraus has been with Unbound since 2009 and leads the financial team from a small, no-frills office in an old renovated warehouse in Kansas City, Kan.
“Martin exemplifies everything we stand for here at Unbound,” said President/CEO Scott Wasserman. “He combines strong character, deep financial skills and a giving heart to ensure Unbound is able to deliver help to the people who need it most around the world. He works tirelessly to ensure that Unbound remains a good steward of the funds entrusted to us.”
The awards program honors top financial executives. Applicants were judged for their contributions to their organizations' growth and financial success, their roles in corporate management and strategic planning, and their community involvement, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
“Bringing people together from different parts of the world is what we do at Unbound,” Kraus said. “I’m thrilled that we are recognized for doing it in a financially excellent way.”
Unbound is the largest nonprofit in Kansas with more than $121.3 million in annual revenue. The organization works directly with children, families and the elderly as they confront the challenges of poverty and work toward a better life.
Unbound distributes direct aid as quickly and efficiently as possible to people who need it. More than 93 percent of all the money Unbound spends goes to program support.
