Dan Cornford, Reader, Computer Science, Aston University will be talking ‘Decisions from data:- the importance of quality, trust and quantified uncertainty’ on the 2nd day of the conference.
Dan commented: “The rise of “big data” has raised the awareness of the importance of managing data capital across all organisations. This has always been an issue, but in recent years we have developed methods to manage, model and interpret increasingly heterogeneous and large data resources. The challenge we have to face now is to find the value in this potentially overwhelming volume of data. This requires us to consider both complex modelling and management of data, but also the human interaction with that data – how can I find and use data that I trust, producing results that I trust? The solutions to these issues are still a work in progress and will be addressed in this conference.”
