Mary Ann Bishop-Hebel Scholarship Established In Memory of Business Bank of Texas, N.A. Co-Founder
Austin, TX (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- The Business Bank of Texas, N.A. has announced plans to establish a new scholarship at Southern Methodist University's SW Graduate School of Banking (SWGSB) in honor of the bank's co-founder Mary Ann Bishop-Hebel.
SWGSB is considered one of the top banking educational institutions in the U.S. The school serves students on the path to careers as bank officers, regulators and in other management positions in the financial services industry. The Mary Ann Bishop-Hebel Scholarship will be awarded each year to an outstanding female candidate attending the business school. The scholarship adds to Mary Ann's already formidable legacy by enabling more young women to follow her lead into successful careers in banking.
Mary Ann spent 40 years in the financial services industry, working her way up from a bank teller at State National Bank in Odessa to co-founder and Executive Vice President of the Business Bank of Texas. In between, she worked for a variety of banking entities including the State of Texas Banking Commission. In the course of her career, she became an influential voice in the banking industry, working to improve operational and regulatory conditions in the industry at large.
Mary Ann's contribution to the creation and success of the Business Bank of Texas is clear to everyone who's worked there with her. In memory of an outstanding woman whose work helped fuel the success of many others, the bank's CEO Ed Lette has established the fund for the scholarship, and the bank has committed to donating $1,000 a year for at least the next five years.
The fund is accepting donations to supplement the amount awarded to scholarship recipients. For all those interested in helping support women in business, donations can be sent to:
