Overcoming Obstacles Starts with Spiritual Discipline
Orange Park, FL (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- Retired U.S. Navy commander Adam Smithyman has been married to his wife, Candice, for 23 years, and like most other couples, they have faced their share of trials. Now, they’re helping others in the same way they have faced their struggles: together.
Both board certified pastoral counselors with the American Association of Christian Counselors, the Smithymans co-wrote “Soul Transformation: Your Personal Journey.”
The book was written as a group study, but can easily be used as a personal devotional. The couple designed it to help people grasp the tools to practice spiritual disciplines and overcome earthly obstacles.
The Smithymans approach the growth process as people who have struggled themselves. Candice overcame depression, anxiety and Crohn’s disease with the help of the methods discussed in the book.
“Health and wholeness come to the brain when we learn to become attached to God and practice spiritual disciplines,” explained Candice.
The couple hopes their experience in overcoming adultery in marriage will be helpful to other couples going through similar problems.
“We provide scriptural basis for Jesus overcoming needs for provision, protection and acceptance when He walked the earth,” explained Adam. “We can share life strategies to help overcome pitfalls in our lives.”
