Children's Hunger Fund Reports 27% Increase in Meal Distribution in 2013
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 28, 2014 -- With the release of its 2013 Annual Report, Children's Hunger Fund, a Los Angeles-based, Christian non-profit serving children in need, revealed a 27% increase in the number of meals they distributed to the poor worldwide.
"It's incredibly important for us to see that so many more children were fed and cared for," said Children’s Hunger Fund President Dave Phillips. "My staff and I are humbled by the fact that over 15 million meals passed from our hands into the hands of hungry families last year. It's an honor to have a part in this amazing story of God's provision."
In addition to meal count, volunteers for the organization rose from 18,248 to 24,595, an increase of 35% over 2012. Volunteers serve by packaging food and other aid in preparation for distribution. Children’s Hunger Fund’s "Food Pak," a box of foodstuffs used in home delivery outreach to the poor, saw 23% distribution growth to 94,800 boxes delivered.
“This is all because of the commitment of those who believe in our mission to deliver hope to suffering children," said Phillips. "We must recognize the self-sacrifice of our donors and volunteers who make it possible to serve so many, especially when economic times are hard."
The annual report also relates some of the high points of Children’s Hunger Fund’s work in 2013 including participation in the Oklahoma tornado relief, launch of their new 'Rethink Mercy' training program for churches, and touching stories of individual children and families served.
Children’s Hunger Fund was also again given a four-star rating by Charity Navigator for financial accountability and transparency, with 98.6% of contributions going toward program services in 2012.
The report is currently available for download on the charity's website, ChildrensHungerFund.org.
