Nuvem Consulting Develops Key Function of Award-Winning Mobile App
Omaha, Nebraska (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- Developed with Nuvem Consulting, Lindsay Corporation’s FieldNET® for wireless micro-irrigation management in combination with Growsmart by Lindsay MULTI-CONTROL was named one of the Top Ten New Products of 2014 at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California.
Nuvem developed FieldNET’s wireless micro-irrigation system that allows growers to access and control their entire irrigation operation at any time and from anywhere. Available on iPhone, iPad and Android devices, the irrigation mobile app provides growers with management and control of center pivot and lateral irrigation systems, pumps and valves, fertilizer and chemical injectors, filter flush capabilities, and frost protection plans. FieldNET mobile is the only app that enables growers to control all these devices from one platform.
FieldNET and MULTI-CONTROL eliminate the painstaking and time-consuming task of monitoring and controlling water manually on site. This system also maximizes water efficiency by giving growers complete control over when, where and how they water.
“The environmental and economic impact of this app is simply huge,” said Matt Dillon, Nuvem co-founder. “Besides the convenience of being able to turn drip on or off from anywhere, considering that we’re in a global water crisis, the ability to save water will have a larger impact.”
The integrated 4-in-1 controller enables growers to schedule flush cycles to run automatically by operation time or pressure differential, set up or adjust crop temperature protection plans as conditions change, and have unlimited control of water, fertilizer and chemical use. The wireless system also can irrigate individual zones without the need to install several miles of wire.
FieldNET for wireless micro-irrigation management is just one of the many high-tech mobile apps being developed today that connects to sensors on devices, machinery and equipment. These “Internet of Things” connected apps solve everyday challenges for businesses and consumers by giving them access to information they need to manage their day easier and faster. Other examples include mobile apps to control home security systems, apps that monitor vending machine inventory, and mobile apps that provide performance reports and run diagnostics tests on tractors, cars and construction equipment.
“This is just scratching the surface on what connected devices can do,” Dillon said. “Giving people the ability to control ‘things’ remotely via their smartphone or tablet gives them more flexibility, freedom and often even saves money. Businesses like Lindsay that capitalize on opportunities to develop apps for connected devices will have a strong competitive edge because they are creating something extremely valuable in the marketplace”
FieldNET for wireless micro-irrigation management can be used to detect a problem with an irrigation system, such as leaking or clogged lines, and alert operators to take appropriate action. It also allows growers to monitor and record water usage, energy usage, tank or pond levels, and has expansion capabilities with Growsmart plug-and-play add-ons. The patent-pending, slide-out Quick Tray control appears on demand to easily manage functions without leaving the main map view.
“FieldNET for wireless micro-irrigation management is a true game-changer,” says Reece Andrews, new technology product manager at Lindsay. “We’re excited to make this award-winning irrigation management system available to drip and micro-irrigation users, helping growers reduce risk and save labor, water, energy and chemical use.”
