Forest carbon markets are constrained by estimation and invalidation risk. PEM Inc. introduces forest carbon products through a "Regulation A" public offering that promotes land conservation and sustainable land management tied to direct carbon measurements and project performance, the offering is open to the investing public, reports Planetary Emissions Management Inc.

The lack of verifiable direct measurements across scales for forest carbon flux creates a high risk of invalidation for forest projects and a weak market for forest carbon products.

Carbon sequestration by forests across the planet is universally recognized as a primary component of the carbon cycle but direct measurement of carbon sequestration has not been commercially available as a service until now. Planetary Emissions Management Inc. is introducing unique and new “climate equities” as forest carbon products through an SEC Regulation A offering that are project based and valued according to sequestration performance. An advertisement describing the Regulation A security is publicly available along with a form to indicate interest are available for review.

The patented PEM “system of systems” eliminates costly and uncertain estimation protocols widely in use today. PEM Inc is seeking indications of interest for its Regulation A stock offering now in the planning stages. PEM will form a new company, Planet Alpha Fund, to create the next generation of carbon credits based on direct measurement at the project scale, not estimation. PEMs technology is deployed across the landscape.

Predictions of climate gloom and doom are not a solution or a strategy to address climate change. PEM is responding to this challenge with technology rooted in the return of carbon to the biosphere. Science alone is not enough to manage the shared global atmosphere for GHG composition. Public participation across continents is needed to make a difference in governance of atmospheric composition.

“The lack of verifiable direct measurements across scales for forest carbon flux creates a high risk of invalidation for forest projects and a weak market for forest carbon products,” remarked Bruno D.V. Marino, CEO and Founder of PEM Inc. “A financially viable and publicly accessible carbon products trading approach based on project performance, forest conservation and sustainable management can reverse deforestation, map onto stalled REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) projects across the planet and eclipse the limitations of donor-driven support,” said Marino.

PEM’s patented technology provides commercial scale direct monitoring verification and accounting of forest carbon, available for the first time from PEM. The PEM approach employs real-time measurements of carbon exchange to obtain data that only ground observations can provide. PEM plans to launch its Regulation A security in 2014 for Maine Forests and is seeking indications of interest from diverse stakeholders including investors, buyers, sellers, brokers and partners. PEM is planning to open its first retail store for forest carbon products in 2015 in Portland, ME.
