Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) May 30, 2014
Jacksonville, FL- Jacksonville Water Taxi (JWT) has notified the City of Jacksonville (City) that as of June 6, 2014, JWT will be forced to terminate its operation of the St. Johns River Water Taxi Service (SJRWTS). Termination of JWT’s service is necessitated by the expiration of JWT’s existing contract and the City’s May 19, 2014 formal rejection of our bid for a new long-term contract pursuant to the City’s Request for Proposal No. ESC-0319-14.
JWT will be in full operation until the close of business on Friday, June 6, 2014, when it will terminate its service. “We have been honored to provide marine transportation services to the City of Jacksonville and hoped we would be afforded the opportunity to continue providing such vital transportation services. It has been our privilege to serve the City, its residents, visitors and football fans; however, the rejection of our bid to continue service coupled with the expiration of our prior contract has left us with no option other than to initiate the withdrawal of our vessels.” said Michael McDaniel, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Jacksonville Water Taxi.
Michael adds, “At a time when more and more people rely on affordable transportation options it’s not a step we wanted to take. So please allow us to thank the residents of Jacksonville for their loyalty, support and patronage. We would welcome the opportunity to serve you again in the future.”
The Jacksonville Water Taxi had serviced 5 stops including the Jacksonville Landing, Friendship Fountain Park, Crowne Plaza, Chart House/ Wyndham hotel, and the Metropolitan Park Marina. It ran from 11am to 11pm during the summer hours. You can reach Michael McDaniel by calling 410.563.3900, or by emailing him at michael.mcdaniel(at)harborcare(dot)com.
