Radius Networks Extends iBeacon Configuration to the Macintosh OS X Desktop
Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 30, 2014 -- Radius Networks, Inc., the leading provider of mobile proximity services, today announced the release of RadBeacon for OS X, extending industry-leading proximity beacon configuration capabilities for its family of RadBeacon proximity beacons with iBeacon technology to the Macintosh OS X desktop environment.
Proximity beacons with iBeacon technology are short range, low power, Bluetooth Smart transmitters that can notify mobile devices when they come within 100 feet of the beacon. This micro-location proximity awareness can be leveraged to deliver a wide range of new innovative solutions, such as precision indoor navigation, automatic ticketing, guided museum tours and location-relevant offers and promotions.
“One of the main drivers for the phenomenal success of our RadBeacon family of iBeacon proximity beacons has been the quality and usability of our RadBeacon configuration tools for iOS. Just as we moved beyond the iPhone to include native iPad support, we are making good on our commitment to provide enterprise-class iBeacon tools by delivering these same capabilities to the Macintosh OS X desktop,” said David Helms, Chief Product Officer at Radius Networks.
“By delivering RadBeacon configuration tools for OS X, we are moving iBeacon proximity beacon management to a whole new level,” said David Young, Chief Engineer for Radius Networks. “Once you have to start deploying hundreds of beacons, you really start to appreciate what a difference doing this in a desktop environment really makes. The RadBeacon app for OS X still gives users full configuration control of the iBeacon advertisement data, transmit power and advertising rate for RadBeacons, but now it’s even easier to get the job done.”
“RadBeacon for OS X is a great addition to our suite of products and capabilities that leverage iBeacon technology. There are now over 50,000 users of Radius Networks’ beacon developer kits, developer tools, and our ProximityKit cloud services plus mobile SDKs for iOS and Android devices,” said Marc Wallace, CEO of Radius Networks. “The introduction of RadBeacon for OS X is continued proof that Radius Networks is the market leader in the enabling technologies that help developers deliver real mobile proximity solutions to their customers.”
