Association for Patient Experience Launches Journal of Patient Experience
Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- The Association for Patient Experience, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the patient experience is pleased to announce the availability of its new, peer-reviewed journal, the Journal of Patient Experience (JPE).
JPE shares advances in relationship-centered care, including communication skills training, patient and provider engagement, quality and patient safety, service excellence, technology, processes, and systems.
For the inaugural issue, JPE has published seven pieces on topics ranging from relationship-centered communication programs and the REDE model, the use of the narrative, methods to drive experience efforts within organizations, to patient and provider reflections. A digital edition of the entire first issue of JPE is available at: http://www.patient-experience.org/Resources/Journal.aspx.
“The journal represents the culmination of a personal and professional odyssey…our commitment is truly to give voice to both the patient and provider experience. My own work in patient experience has reinforced the incredible power of relationships in healthcare and how they might heal and benefit not only patients, but ourselves," said Editor-in-Chief, Adrienne Boissy, MD, MA, Director of the Center for Excellence in Healthcare Communication and Staff Neurologist at Cleveland Clinic.
JPE will be published quarterly in print and online and is supported by an eight-member editorial board. An annual subscription to JPE is included with the purchase of a premium membership to the Association for Patient Experience.
“Now more than ever, organizations are looking for approaches that will improve the patient experience with tangible outcomes without sacrificing clinical quality, safety, value, or the human dimension that makes giving and receiving care meaningful,” Dr. Boissy said.
Dr. Boissy encourages those who are considering an idea or an article to submit. “We are early in this process, and I am receptive to new ideas.” The second issue of JPE will be published in August.

The deadline to submit a paper for the second issue is June 30.
