After 6 months of using the online service from, World of Camping have found that giving their customers the chance to voice their opinions is a valuable experience which benefits both seller and buyers - and a vital part of the future of online retail.

When choosing a retailer online for camping equipment, it makes all the difference to know who to trust, and customers are often happier to make a purchase when they know what previous customers think about a business and the products for sale.

After an order has been shipped out, the customer receives an email with a link to the Reviews website, where they can leave a review for their tent, portable toilet or sleeping bag, and for the quality of service received.

“When we started using the Reviews service, we'd expected to see a broad mix of opinions, but it's been really great to see that almost all reviews have been extremely positive about our service, the goods on offer, and the customer experience as a whole. On the rare occasions when we do get a low-rated review, it gives us a chance to understand what went wrong – and that's important for us to hear,” said Mr. Cowie.

Since people are often reluctant to mention a small problem, formalising the process by inviting them to an established platform for discussion is a very open way to allow them to comment.

“It also gives us the chance to both respond to the feedback and to look into our systems and processes to make improvements. It's also useful for us to pass on comments to the brands and suppliers we get our stock from – and of course there's great value for the next customer when they can see what someone else thought of the 12/230v Coolbox or 3-way Fridge they're thinking of getting.
