TCGRx Announces Launch of AutoSense™ Canisters to Expand Automated Formulary in Long-Term Care, Retail and Hospital Packaging Automation
Powers Lake, WI (PRWEB) June 02, 2014 -- This week, at the Annual Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) in Las Vegas, TCGRx announced an expansion of its ATP™ Series pouch packaging product line, that will reduce the manual filling component of traditional pouch packaging technology. AutoSense technology utilizes unique and proprietary coding that is applied to formulary canisters in the ATP pouch packaging device. It automatically detects the canister replacement, and updates the database regardless of its placement within a designated drawer, allowing the expansion of automated formulary. Pharmacies may service specific medications for a particular disease — cancer, AIDS, transplant, etc. These medications would be used in bulk for a particular order or patient strip. The ability to automate those medications for one particular facility or batch could be difficult with the conventional pinned canisters. With the AutoSense canister, the user could swap those canisters in or out for each particular facility or batch. “Today, customers using packagers are limited in their production by non-formulary items like half-tablets and slow-moving items that are not in the machine. AutoSense allows our customers to expand their automated formulary to any number. This will greatly reduce labor and increase production efficiency,” according to Matt Noffsinger, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
AutoSense can be applied to any existing ATP and is available in increments of 16 canister bases. The product allows an entire ATP to be enabled with Autosense, so that every location in the device can be flexible to handle any formulary item. The AutoSense technology also allows a customer to better handle generic and brand medication changes, decrease erroneous errors in dispensing, and provide a way for an entry-level customer to limit capital equipment expenditures without compromising accuracy and convenience.
