Sharp’s GEN 8 Fabs Begin Production of Large Industrial Application (IA) LCD Modules
Camas, WA (PRWEB) June 03, 2014 -- Today, Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas (SMA) announced two additions to its large LCD line-up for Industrial Applications (IA) – the first of their kind produced from Sharp’s Gen 8 mother glass Fab at the Kameyama No. 2 (K2) plant in Japan. The Gen 8 facility, which opened in 2006, offers high-quality glass and yield that enables competitive price points for robust LCD modules; it is also capable of IGZO LCD production.
The two introductory modules from K2 are the 15-inch (diagonal) LQ150X1LX95 and the 19-inch (diagonal) LQ190E1LX75. Both feature a typical contrast ratio of 1500:1, a symmetrical viewing cone (typical viewing angles L/R/U/D 85°), built-in LED drivers, and a 70%+ NTSC ratio. The panels are rated for 70,000 hours of backlight life (typical for operation at 25°C), but also feature a replaceable backlight system for even longer performance. They are the first two Sharp LCD modules to be UL-certified and also boast a five-year Sharp warranty. The new displays will be on show at Display Week 2014 in San Diego, CA, June 3 – 5.
