The Chicago-based online gallery and store IntoConcrete is pleased to announce that it is now carrying the Ovni Almohadoncito Concrete Stool, which is handmade in Argentina. This is the first product that IntoConcrete has presented from the Grupo Bondi design studio. To view this innovative piece, visit http://intoconcrete.com/products/ovni-almohadoncito-concrete-stool.
Grupo Bondi has developed a unique and visually captivating technique for manufacturing concrete furniture. Through a groundbreaking process combining molds, materials, colors and textures, the design studio creates concrete furniture that strongly resembles fabric cushions. The Ovni Almohadoncito Concrete Stool is made from reinforced concrete and featured anodized aluminum for buttons and water drains. The stool’s legs are made from coated steel rebar. The piece itself has a total weight of 16kg.
The title of the piece itself even demonstrates creative wordplay in that the translation of the Spanish word almohadoncito is “little (or cute) cushion.” The Spanish word ovni refers to “UFO.”
Regarding Grupo Bondi and the release of the Ovni Almohadoncito Concrete Stool, IntoConcrete Founder Mario Guagnelli stated, “Discovering this innovative, playful and imaginative work was truly a thrill.
