MIFA has taken on an incredibly important mission – to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem by working to reduce the frequency and impact of medical identify fraud. I am honored to be part of MIFA’s growth.

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 30, 2014

Clearwater Compliance Chief Operating Officer, Kathy Ebbert, has been named to the Steering Committee of the Medical Identity Fraud Alliance (MIFA). Ebbert brings Clearwater’s national leadership and expertise related to HIPAA Security and Privacy compliance. She will serve alongside other senior privacy and security leaders from organizations such as Kaiser Permanente, Aetna and ID Experts.

Specifically, Ebbert will be actively participating in the organization’s Legal and Regulatory initiative, where she will help the group leverage Clearwater’s expertise and best practices in HIPAA compliance.

“MIFA has taken on an incredibly important mission – to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem by working to reduce the frequency and impact of medical identify fraud,” said Ebbert. “I am honored to be part of MIFA’s growth and burgeoning success against problems related to medical identity fraud.”

The MIFA Board of Directors established the Steering Committee to oversee MIFA’s member programming, including projects, working groups, forums, and conferences to promote MIFA’s mission. The Committee will also take an active role in driving MIFA’s strategic vision.

Formation of the Committee corresponds with MIFA’s recent announcement that it is moving from development to operational status, which includes installing a board of directors, hiring staff and launching several new initiatives to address medical identity fraud.

In selecting Committee members, MIFA evaluated past and potential contributions to the development of the organization’s mission and goals considering factors like willingness to actively participate in a leadership role, expertise and industry thought leadership.

“Kathy is a great leader, and we know MIFA will be pleased with her contributions to the Steering Committee,” said Bob Chaput, CEO and founder of Clearwater Compliance. “She has an abundance of valuable experience to bring to the table and will no doubt help the organization advance it’s mission.”
