Solar Industries Solar Pool Heater Achieves 1,100 Btu per Square Foot FSEC Performance Rating
Lakewood, New Jersey (PRWEB) May 31, 2014 -- Aquatherm Industries, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of solar thermal collectors, announced today a 10% increase in the certified performance rating of its Solar Industries Solar Pool Heating System®, having received a rating of 1,100 Btus per square foot by the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC).
The Solar Industries brand has been in constant production since 1976, and was the company’s first and only product line until the launch of its Ecosun Solar Pool Heater in 1992.
At its 50,000 square foot facility in Lakewood, New Jersey, Aquatherm manufactures collectors using a proprietary blend of UV-stabilized polypropylene (PP), a thermoplastic polymer well known for its durability and longevity. In 1978, Solar Industries was awarded the first patent ever for a “tube-and-web” solar pool heating collector, and was called “a new development in the use of polypropylene” by Modern Plastics Magazine.
Though collector design and construction have remained virtually unchanged throughout the product’s 38 years, the manufacturer credits advances in manufacturing processes, continual improvement in quality control, and more real-world performance testing methods for the increased rating.
In 2011, Aquatherm Industries, Inc. became an ISO 9001:2008 registered company, and has since undergone annual inspections of its quality management systems. At the time of this release, the company remains the only U.S. manufacturer of solar pool heaters to be ISO 9001 registered.
