Turner Construction Company Delivers Safety Message to 45,000 workers at 10th Annual Safety Stand-Down
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 02, 2014 -- On Monday, June 2, 2014, work will be suspended on Turner Construction Company jobs across the United States while the company delivers an important message on this year’s theme: Proper Pre-Task Planning for Safety.
Effective pre-task planning aligns an entire project team with regard to the work they need to accomplish in a given day, helps them identify possible hazards and risks associated with their work, and gives them the opportunity to develop a plan to mitigate and avoid those hazards and risks. It also gives each employee a voice and helps them take responsibility for their own safety and for the safety of their fellow workers.
Cindy DePrater, Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety said, “Holding these Stand-Downs is one way Turner demonstrates how safety is integrated into our company culture. It exhibits our philosophy that we are all safety – which means everyone from senior leadership to the front line workers are engaged and proactive in supporting a safe work environment and sending every worker home safe and healthy every day.” She continued, “Our commitment to establishing safe work sites helped our company earn Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Services (OHSAS) 18001 registration. Turner is one of only a few construction companies in the United States to earn this distinction.”
