Out-of-Home Content From More Than 100 Networks Now Accessible Directly From the Optimum App
Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) June 03, 2014 -- Cablevision announced today that it has updated its Optimum App to give customers the ability to browse and connect to more than 100 networks out of home using the app’s new integrated ‘TV to Go’ feature.
Since its inception, the Optimum App has allowed customers to use their mobile devices as a second screen in the home to watch live TV and On Demand content from the channels included in their cable subscription. Now, this latest enhancement makes the app the single destination for watching Optimum TV both at home and on the go.
“The integration of TV to Go networks into the Optimum App makes it the ultimate platform for mobile TV viewing, whether a customer is connected to their home network or out and about,” said Bradley Feldman, senior vice president of product management for Cablevision. “Our customers enjoy being able to watch TV from their smartphones, tablets, and laptops, and we believe that having their mobile content available in one place - the Optimum App – will make their experience that much more seamless and enjoyable.”
TV to Go services such as HBO GO, WATCH Disney, and WatchESPN are available anywhere there is an internet connection and offer everything from live streaming to On Demand programming to bonus features and online exclusives. The accessibility of these services from within the Optimum App simplifies the on-the-go viewing experience for Optimum TV customers, who can now easily scroll through a listing of all TV to Go networks, select their network of choice, and be linked directly to the network’s app or website.
With more than 100 networks to choose from, customers can enjoy on-the-go content including:
• Kids programming from Disney, Nick, Sprout, and Cartoon Network
• Premium series’ and movies from HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax, and Encore
• Sports events on ESPN, beIN Sports, Fox Sports, NFL Network and Redzone, and NBC Sports Network
• Breaking news coverage on networks like News12, CNBC, and CNN
Networks available for out-of-home viewing are listed by genre and can be filtered to show all networks or just those that are included in a customer’s Optimum TV package. To access TV to Go content, customers must have a subscription to the corresponding linear network and will be prompted to sign in with their Optimum ID and password.
Aside from providing mobile access to Optimum TV, the Optimum App also allows customers to:
• Search for both linear and On Demand content of interest using the advanced program guide
• Schedule DVR recordings and manage previously recorded content
• Manage all TVs in the house with remote control functionality
Optimum customers who also subscribe to Optimum Online high speed Internet service have the additional convenience and flexibility of being able to use the Optimum App and its TV to Go feature when away from home with the Optimum WiFi network of hundreds of thousands of hotspots available across Cablevision’s tri-state service area.
The Optimum App is available for free from the App Store for iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, Google Play for Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Marketplace for Kindle devices. For Optimum App tutorials and more information, customers can visit Channel 900 or optimum.net/tv/optimum-app.
