GL Studio Begins ISO 26262 Certification Process
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) June 03, 2014 -- The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface development software to the automotive, aerospace, and medical communities, announces today that they have begun the ISO 26262 certification process for GL Studio. ISO 26262 applies to safety-related electrical and electronic systems installed in production passenger cars such as those used for dashboard instrument clusters. This is a critical element for the expansion of software-based instruments and gauges into the automotive market.
GL Studio’s Safety Critical runtime libraries are already in use on other life critical display systems including aircraft avionics, spacecraft avionics, and medical device displays. These systems each have their own similar certification standards such as the FAA DO-178C, RTCA ED-12C, and FDA 510(k). As a result, DiSTI anticipates a smooth approval process for GL Studio that will pave the way for risk free safety critical adoption by automotive OEMs and their tier 1 suppliers.
“DiSTI is at the forefront of an explosive expansion of our user interface technology into the automotive market thanks to our rich 20 year history in producing high performing advanced 3-D instrumentation for the aerospace markets,” said DiSTI President Joe Swinski. “As the computing hardware, LCD technology, and software feature capabilities increase, these types of interactive displays will continue to propagate into every class of vehicle; whether or not a human is driving the car.”
In 2012, Jaguar Land Rover adopted and standardized on GL Studio for use in creating Infotainment and Rear Seat Entertainment Systems in Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. In 2010, Scaled Composites Burt Rutan’s experimental aircraft company and winner of the coveted Ansari X PRIZE for Space Flight, used GL Studio to produce the comprehensive avionics systems solution for the WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo vehicles, built for Virgin Galactic, part of Richard Branson’s Virgin Group. GL Studio is also in use on aircraft avionics systems such as the UH-60 Black Hawk Advanced Engine Instrumentation avionics system developed by Howell Instruments.
