Dorothy’s Derby Chronicles to Exhibit at Denver Comic Con
(PRWEB) June 02, 2014 -- Roller derby skaters are today’s new superheroes, and Dorothy’s Derby Chronicles’ Rise of the Undead Redhead raucously celebrates this new breed of junior roller derby champion. Illustrated in a graphic novel style, the book’s creator’s Meghan Dougherty and Alece Birnbach, will join the artists of Denver Comic Con in its third year at the Denver Convention Center, June 13-15, Booth A14 in the Artist’s Valley.
At Denver Comic Con, guests will have a chance to take a sneak peak at the book before its publication date of July 8, 2014, and take home a little piece of Dorothy’s Derby Chronicles. Buttons, temporary tattoos, and bracelets are just a few of the merchandising products that will be available for purchase. Guests will also be able to pre-order a copy of Rise of the Undead Redhead for delivery upon publication.
Beyond the book series and merchandise created for Denver Comic Con, the powerful message of strength around the sport of roller derby and the vibrant images of these colorful characters are ideal for licensing. Skating in circles doesn’t exactly make you Miss Popular…or does it? Dorothy Moore has never been outgoing. In fact, she’s downright shy. So when she and her sister Sam are forced to move in with their pink-haired, hearse-driving grandma, Dorothy’s not sure she can survive as the new kid in school. When she reaches into her gym bag to find her sweats replaced with a sequined spandex body suit courtesy of Grandma Sally, she’s sure she won’t. Dorothy just wants to fit in at school, and learning how to skate from Grandma Sally seems like the wrong way to go. But meeting new friends makes all the difference, and Dorothy finds that skating in circles might be the path to happiness and adventure.
