From November through April, Hawai‘i-bound travelers can explore four Hawaiian Islands—Hawai‘i, Maui, Moloka‘i, Lana‘i—by yacht on a weeklong cruise with small ship cruise line Un-Cruise Adventures. An adventure savings of $600/couple is offered on bookings made by July 31, 2014 for cruises departing November 2014 – April 2015, excluding holiday departures on December 20 and 27.
Hawai‘i cruises sail one-way between Hawai‘i, the Big Island and Moloka‘i or reverse aboard the 36-guest Safari Explorer. With an aft swim step and a full complement of water sports equipment, guests aboard the Safari Explorer enjoy the freedom of water exploration. Kayak through a lava tube or nearby volcanic cliffs. Jump in a skiff to look for whales or other marine life. Watch dolphins off the bow. Snorkel among tropical fish, green sea turtles and dolphins. Swim, sail or paddle board nearby the yacht. Expert naturalists provide interpretation on guided excursions ashore and at sea.
Highlights include a night snorkel with Giant Pacific Manta rays and snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay where Captain Cook was slain in 1779. Hike along a beach up to a scenic, rocky overlook for sweeping views of neighboring bays on Lana‘i. Visit Lana‘i City and the Lana‘i Culture and Heritage Center. Explore the old town of Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i. In the Humpback National Marine Sanctuary, expedition cruising allows time for searching out marine life—humpback whales, dolphins, green sea turtles and other marine life. Tour the historic town of Lahaina, Maui and take a turn paddling a traditional outrigger canoe.
“The inclusive nature of our yacht cruise is very appealing and freeing and welcomed by vacationers who enjoy inclusive packaging,” said Captain Dan Blanchard, CEO. “Step aboard and relax as we visit four islands. And we’ve arranged exclusive tours for our guests to see the traditional ways of life and meet the local people of Moloka‘i.”
Embarking or disembarking at Moloka‘i allows time for an evening and full day of cultural activities on the less-visited isle. Guests may hike to a secluded waterfall in sacred Halawa Valley or spend time at Anakala Pilipo’s home learning the ways of traditional life in Hawai‘i; take time to “talk story” and learn how to make poi from taro root. An evening pa‘ina (a traditional Hawaiian feast) at Moloka‘i Museum and Cultural Center serves local cuisine including fresh fish, poi, seaweed, Moloka‘i sweet potatoes and other staples of the Hawaiian diet. Local musicians and a kumu hula dancer entertain.
The yacht’s warm wood interior is inviting and public spaces include a wine library, dining room, bar and lounge area, an open bridge and an aft deck area with large table for gatherings. A spacious top deck has chairs, loungers and tables for relaxing and taking in the view. Included in the cruise fare: premium spirits, fine wines and microbrews; superb hand-crafted meals featuring local Hawaiian flavors; massage; yoga; guided tours geared toward small groups; from-yacht activities and equipment; whale and dolphin encounters; transfers; lei greeting; and port charges and taxes. Cruise fares begin at $3,595 per person, double occupancy. Charters and group incentives are available.
