Jamie's Hope Golf Tournament for a Cure Grows by 250%
Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 03, 2014 -- The Jamie’s Hope Foundation hosted the Second Annual Golf Tournament for a Cure this past Friday, selling out both courses with over 240 golfers at Wildcat Golf Club and boasting an additional 40-plus guests at the newly added 19th Hole Lounge. From 9am-7pm, guests enjoyed an all-inclusive day full of food, drinks, games, awards, prizes, live and silent auctions and more.
The tournament kicked off with a breakfast by the event sponsors, My Fit Foods and Squeezed Detox and Pressed Juice, along with the extravagant bloody mary bar sponsored by Deep Eddy Vodka. Prior to the shotgun start, radio personality Scott Sparks auctioned off four celebrity golfers and eight celebrity caddies. Celebrity golfers included Houston Texans Pro-Bowl center Chris Myers, former Houston Texans wide receiver Kevin Walter, Houston's favorite weather girl, Chita Johnson of KHOU Channel 11 and Fox 26 reporter Katie McCall.
On-course activities included BBQ by Serial Grillers, turkey legs by Tesco Corporation, giveaways from MacDermid Offshore Solutions, Cyclone Cycles, Freedom Boat Club, Hard Core Pilates, Squeezed, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House and Thru Tubing Solutions, and a full stop-smoking campaign by Joy's Pure Vapor. Over 100 participants pledged to quit smoking and threw their tobacco products in the trash.
Meanwhile, the 19th Hole Lounge opened at 3pm, allowing non-golfing guests the opportunity to participate in the event. Anchored by a 40-foot Red Bull tent and fully-stocked bar, courtesy of the Flying Pug Lounge of Spring, Texas, the lounge offered guests bites by Soma Sushi and Bonjour Creperie, sounds by DJ Senega, the opportunity to mix and mingle with Houston Texans Cheerleaders and receive puppy kisses from the sweet pugs up for adoption (courtesy of PugHearts of Houston).
As golfers joined the lounge guests, all filtered into a 100-foot tent to enjoy a phenomenal steak and chicken dinner provided by Del Frisco's Steak House, followed by the awards ceremony and tons of prize giveaways. The tournament wrapped up as Jamie's Hope founder Jamie Gilmore and event co-chair Mark Levesque of Chevron performed a helicopter ball drop, featuring over $8,000 in prizes, including a $2,500 membership to Freedom Boat Club of Conroe, Texas. As they say, there's never a dull moment at the Jamie's Hope tournaments!
