MIPO's Miringoff to be Honored for Outstanding Achievement in Public Opinion Research
New York City (PRWEB) June 03, 2014 -- Dr. Lee M. Miringoff, Director of The Marist College Institute for Public Opinion (MIPO), will be presented with the Harry W. O’Neill Outstanding Achievement Award by the New York Chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research at its awards gala tonight in New York City.
"On behalf of the entire Marist College community, I want to congratulate Lee on this great honor," said Marist College President Dennis J. Murray. "For more than 35 years, Lee and the Marist Institute for Public Opinion have represented the highest standard of integrity, independence, and accuracy in public opinion polling. I am pleased to see him be recognized by his peers for his success and for his many contributions to the profession."
The award is named for the late Harry W. O’Neill, a major figure in public opinion research, who served in leadership roles with The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research and Opinion Research Corporation, and directed survey work for several presidential campaigns.
Dr. Miringoff received his Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the former President of the National Council of Public Polls (NCPP) and a current member of the Board of Trustees. He is also a trustee of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. Dr. Miringoff is a frequent commentator on politics and elections. He has appeared regularly on television and radio as an expert on public opinion, politics, and polling.
The awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, June 3, on the Lincoln Center Campus of Fordham University.
