(PRWEB UK) 4 June 2014 -- National Hire Solutions provider, GAP Group, has won the Scottish Business Award for Growth Strategy of the Year 2014.
Traditionally a plant and tool hirer, GAP has been recognised for implementing a strategy to diversify the business through the establishment of ‘specialist divisions’; namely Lifting Hire & Sales and Non-Mechanical Plant. This strategy has proved to hugely successful, and for the first time in the company’s history annual revenues reached almost £120 million for 2013/14.
GAP’s Lifting division has been a key driving force for growth and 2013 saw the opening of six new depots and turnover growth of 133% compared with the same period in 2012. During this past year, a dedicated Test, Inspect and Certify (TIC) team was established which comprises specialist engineers located at strategic locations throughout the UK. The Lifting Division now operates from 26 locations across the UK with plans to increase the depot count to 34 during 2014.
The Non-Mechanical Plant division was also extremely successful during 2013 with revenues up 66% compared with the same period last year. This has been achieved by expanding our product offering, entering new markets such as event hire and maximising the opportunities from our current customer base, in particular the utilities sector.
It is also worth noting that GAP’s core business, Plant & Tool Hire, had the largest revenue increase in 2013, up 14% on the previous year. During 2013, GAP opened 2 new ‘super’ depots which house all divisions of the company. These depots were opened in Bournemouth and Waltham Cross, expanding our coverage in the South of England and making the London & South East region GAP’s largest with 13 depots.
GAP is a family owned business with a strong commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities to the workforce. Family values such as trust, integrity and honesty are paramount throughout all of GAP’s nationwide operations.
GAP expects the growth of the business to continue throughout 2014 with the opening of more new depots and divisions planned.
