Through Beautiful Photography, Videography and Storytelling, Makers Market Gives Online Shoppers a Personal Connection to Independent American Makers and Their Work

Today, Makers Market, an online marketplace featuring the work of independent American makers, launches its website and business. Makers Market initially launches with thirty, highly-curated San Francisco makers, inspired by the energy surrounding the Maker Movement in the city. The marketplace provides a great opportunity for independent makers to collectively have a national presence with other extremely talented artists, designers and craftsman - as well as giving online shoppers the chance to discover these local high-quality makers.

Each piece honors the ideals of American craftsmanship – through timeless, thoughtful design, and durability using leather, metal, glass, clay, textiles and wood to create functional art. Special consideration is given to products that are sustainably made using reclaimed, recycled, up-cycled, or ethically sourced materials.

The website tells the story of these makers, with beautiful photography and videography of their work and studios.

“Many conscientious consumers are trying to move away from mass produced products with no face, no story, and no meaning. They are looking to buy less, and to buy products Made in America, of a higher quality, and with soul,” said Suzanne Ekman, Founder and CEO of Makers Market. “Our goal is for the website to look, sound, and feel as if the consumer was in the master craftsman’s workshop experiencing his talent and workmanship first hand while listening to the engaging storytelling.“

In a world of anonymous mass production, Maker's Market gives shoppers the opportunity to give or own a one-of-a-kind handmade treasure that reflects the heart and soul of the maker.
