Houston, Texas (PRWEB) June 04, 2014
For more than 20 years, Bay Area Recovery Center (BARC) has functioned as a prominent alcohol and drug abuse treatment facility in Texas, with five locations spread across the state. Now, the Houston-based medical center has announced the introduction of drug rehab services specifically for female patients.
The introduction of women-specific service is in response to overwhelming demand from BARC staff and alumni, and the announcement makes BARC one of the few places in Texas that has non-co-ed treatment services that are specifically focused on rehab for women. BARC will provide a homely and welcoming atmosphere that especially accommodates mothers, wives, daughters and sisters.
At BARC, female patients suffering from drug abuse attend a freestanding, medically-based residential detoxification program. Offered at the Houston center and run by the staff physician, the detox program includes recording medical history and undergoing a physical exam, getting a full psychiatric evaluation, devising a regimented medication program and stabilization plan, monitoring vitals for symptom reduction, and preparing for follow-up treatment and ongoing recovery even after being discharged from the center.
Like their male counterparts, female patients still have the option of choosing from inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization (PHP). For female patients 17 years or older that have adversely affected their personal or professional lives and relationships, inpatient care is the best option. Outpatient services are better suited for women who have a lot of everyday obligations, such as school or work. Thus, instead of being hospitalized for 24 or more hours, patients can come in when they are not taking care of their daily obligations. The PHP option is perfect for female patients who can accommodate being in the center for daytime treatment, while still having plenty of time for their lives outside treatment.
For people having difficulty getting in their loved ones for treatment, BARC can work with them on creating an intervention. Although convincing a woman suffering from drug abuse can be a very daunting task, BARC staff are particularly trained to approach the subject in the best possible manner.
