Updated CalcuNation.com Uses Student Input for Online Calculators

CalcuNation.com features online calculators derived from a collection of student and educator suggestions that have been submitted to the website over the past 3 years.
“It’s obvious that students are relying more on digital and internet resources as part of their education. The idea behind CalcuNation.com was to create a website that invites input from students. The goal is to create online calculators that apply to the math problems students deal with in the ‘real-world’, not just their homework,” states Jon Richardson, website creator.
According to a recent study conducted by Harris Interactive for educational publisher Pearson, 71% of students between the ages of 8 and 18 utilize computers, while 77% use tablets, and 47% use smart phones as educational tools.
CalcuNation.com lists over 300 examples of online calculators and claims to have an online calculator, “for just about any math problem.” Beyond the typical calculators used for geometry and algebra, the website also includes creative and unusual calculations. Some of these unusual calculators include a calculator to determine temperature from cricket chirps, how to calculate your carbon footprint, and even a calculator to convert your dog’s age into human years.
