New York, NY (PRWEB) June 04, 2014
Aegis Energy Services, Inc., an innovative Combined Heat and Power(CHP) company based in Holyoke, MA, has reached an agreement with Equity Residential Properties to install CHP systems in 16 of their large multi-family residential properties in the Northeast.
Aegis Energy’s Combined Heat and Power systems deliver two forms of energy, heat and electricity, from a single fuel source (natural gas). The high-efficiency CHP systems significantly reduce energy costs and harmful emissions, as recognized by the EPA.
The modular systems are customized for a variety of facilities, from healthcare and assisted living facilities, to recreational and multi-residential complexes, and hotels. There are also institutional, educational, and industrial facility applications.
Aegis Energy Services and Equity Residential have worked together in the past, outfitting several properties with CHP.
"We are very pleased to be working with Equity again on such a large scale,” said Lee Vardakas, President of Aegis Energy Services. “As is the case here, a significant portion of our sales come from existing customers thus validating our outstanding product and service. We were also pleased to be able to secure substantial funding for four of the New York City sites from NYSERDA, and four Massachusetts sites through Mass Save grants."
Equity Residential (EQR) is an S&P 500 company focused on the acquisition, development and management of high-quality apartment properties in top U.S. growth markets. The company places an emphasis on sustainability and issues an annual Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report.
The Aegis Energy Services Combined Heat and Power systems will be installed in 12 Equity properties in New York City and four Boston properties. The Aegis systems will allow six of the properties to convert from oil burning boilers to a cleaner, more efficient natural gas solution.
The installations are expected to produce an annual savings of over $1.2 million.
Aegis Energy Services is a recognized leader in the cogeneration field having earned numerous awards for growth and recognition from both state and federal agencies for installations that have resulted in reduced emissions and energy savings.
The system installations will include four black-start capable PowerVerter systems, one black-start capable PowerSync, and eleven ThermoPower systems. Aegis’ black-start capable systems provide daily savings and standby power with the ability to generate both heat and electricity during a grid failure.
